PLACEHOLDER ("we", "us", or "our") operates the PLACEHOLDER web application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our service.
By using PLACEHOLDER, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign in with Google, we store the name and email address Google provides so we can create and identify your account.
Content and Project Data
If you save work to an account, we store:
- Visuals, shapes, scenes, and their settings
- Uploaded images, videos, and other media
Guest Use
You can use the editor without an account. Guest drafts and some editor preferences (such as the last audio input) stay in your browser and are not saved to our servers until you sign in and choose to save.
Payment Information
Paid subscriptions are processed by Polar. We store subscription status and Polar customer or subscription identifiers so we can apply your plan. We do not store full payment card details.
Technical Logs
Our hosting and infrastructure providers may record standard request data needed to operate the site, such as IP address, timestamps, and browser user agent. We do not run analytics, advertising, or usage-tracking products.
How We Use Information
We use this information to:
- Provide the service and keep you signed in
- Save and load your projects and media
- Process payments and manage subscriptions
- Respond if you contact support
- Detect, prevent, and address abuse or security issues
- Comply with legal obligations
Cookies and Local Storage
We use a session cookie so you stay signed in. The editor also uses your browser's local storage for guest drafts and a few preferences. We do not use cookies for analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking.
You can clear cookies and local storage in your browser. Signing out or clearing the session cookie will sign you out. Clearing local storage removes unsaved guest work.
Third-Party Services
We use these services to run PLACEHOLDER. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Google (sign-in)
- Polar (merchant of record for paid subscriptions)
- Hosting, database, and object storage providers that run the app and store media
Data Retention
We keep account, project, media, and subscription records while your account exists and as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce agreements.
You can request account deletion from your profile. Deletion is completed after a short delay (and after any required billing period ends). We then delete your account data, projects, and stored media.
Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of electronic storage or internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, and data portability. You can delete your account from your profile, or contact us using the email below.
Children's Privacy
PLACEHOLDER is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including by the third-party services listed above. We take reasonable measures to ensure appropriate protection of personal data in accordance with applicable laws.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page, and the updated date will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
